Volunteers needed for film festival

The Oscars are over, but the Newport Beach Film Festival is drawing near.
Festival organizers are seeking volunteers to help ensure that the April 22 to 29 event runs smoothly.
This year, more than 350 films — features, shorts, documentaries and animated features are among the genres — from around the world will be screened at Edwards Island Cinemas, the Lido Theater and other area theaters.
There are multiple volunteer opportunities, including guest relations, merchandise sales, theater ushering, office receptions, galas and special events staffing, according to a news release from organizers.
Shifts last three to four hours and are available mornings, afternoons and evenings.
Volunteers must be 16 years old. College students are welcome.
Participants are required to attend one of several mandatory orientation sessions in City Council Chambers at Newport Beach City Hall, 3300 Newport Blvd., on the following dates:
7:15 p.m. Monday
10 a.m. March 20
7:15 p.m. March 24
10 a.m. March 27
7:15 p.m. April 7
