Golden West College was awarded a $100,000 grant to help students go green.
The money will be used to create a $1,000 annual scholarship for students studying for environmentally friendly jobs.
Golden West was one of 10 community colleges in the state awarded a grant from Southern California Edison’s Green Jobs Education Initiative. The college was expected to be presented with a check Wednesday evening to the Coast Community College District Board of Trustees meeting.
The money will be invested in the California Community Colleges Scholarship Endowment, which will allow the college to get an additional $50,000 from the Bernard Osher Foundation.
