Campbell named in DNC ‘hit list’

The Democratic National Committee has announced it will take aim at Rep. John Campbell and other House Republicans who voted against a Democrat-backed health-care reform bill.

Campbell, who voted against the health-care legislation, has been named in a DNC “Hit List,” along with 31 other House Republicans.

The DNC will try to exert pressure on the Republican legislators on the list with local events, and media campaigns, according to a press release from the committee.

Campbell has been an outspoken opponent of a Democrat-backed health-care system overhaul.

“Apparently, the DNC hasn’t been listening to the American people who have widely indicated that they oppose Speaker Pelosi’s government takeover of healthcare,” Campbell’s communications director Brent Hall said Wednesday.

“Congressman Campbell’s constituents have made it clear that they understand that government-run health care will increase spending, taxes, and the deficit while ruining the finest healthcare system in the world.”

The liberal public policy group MoveOn is slated to host a rally for health-care reform at 11:30 a.m. today outside Rep. John Campbell’s district office in Newport Beach, 610 Newport Center Drive.
