Police arrest 3 in stolen car with stolen plate
Three Corona residents are due in court today after they were arrested in Newport Beach while allegedly driving a stolen car with a stolen license plate, and possibly carrying stolen cell phones and mail, police said.
Daniel William Jaede, 27, Timothy Wayne Arnett, 36, and Linda Juniper, 42, were booked on suspicion of auto theft early Saturday after Newport Beach police officers pulled them over on East Coast Highway and Irvine Terrace near the Newport Beach Country Club.
Officers pulled them over about 1:07 a.m. Saturday because the 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit they were in did not have a front license plate, according to police.
Jaede was driving and neither he, nor Arnett nor Juniper had a valid driver’s license, said Sgt. Evan Sailor. A registration check showed the car was reported stolen out of Newport Beach last month, and the license plate on the car was reported stolen out of Corona, Sailor said.
Police found mail stolen from a Corona del Mar home and a vehicle owner’s manual and registration papers stolen from a home on Point del Mar, Sailor said.
Six cell phones were inside the car, and police are still trying to determine whether they were stolen too, police said.
The three are being held in Orange County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. If you believe you have been a victim of a related crime or have information regarding Jaede, Arnett or Juniper, call Newport Beach police at (949) 644-3717, or the department’s hotline at (800) 550-NBPD.
