Experian employees volunteer for South Coast Children’s Society

More than 25 employees at Costa Mesa-based Experian recently donated their time and energy to help completely transform one of South Coast Children’s Society’s residential group homes. The volunteers helped to trim trees, clean out ivy and foliage, and paint both the interior and exterior walls.

South Coast’s four children’s group homes give shelter, care and treatment to abused, neglected, and abandoned children between the ages of 10 and 18. Two additional homes serve struggling young people, age 18 to 24, who need short-term assistance and support while transitioning into young adulthood. SCCS programs and services are impacting approximately 890 children, youth and family members at any one time.

“We were delighted to have eager volunteers from Experian assist us,” said Scott McGuirk, CEO of SCCS. “Our children and staff are thrilled with the transformation. The children are looking forward to growing their own vegetables as part of their recreation therapy, and working hard to keep the garden and themselves healthy. We are grateful that these Experian volunteers would come along side us to support our children.”

Since 1984, South Coast has taken a leadership role in filling a critical hole in the safety net of Southern California’s many communities by providing shelter, care, therapy and essential support services for those who are too often left behind: abused, neglected and underprivileged children, youth, and struggling families.
