NORTHRIDGE — The UC Irvine women’s soccer team’s quest for one of four spots in the Big West Conference Tournament took a hit Sunday, when the Anteaters were defeated, 1-0, by host Cal State Northridge in a conference match.
The Anteaters (10-6-2, 3-3-1 in conference) are tied for fourth place with Pacific (10 points each, with three points for a win and one for a tie). UCI has one match remaining, while Pacific has two.
Also, Cal State Fullerton, with seven points, has two matches remaining.
UCI will need a win Thursday at home against Long Beach State to maximize its standings points at 13.
Pacific plays Friday at last-place UC Riverside, then closes Saturday at Cal State Fullerton.
Fullerton is at home Friday against UC Davis.
UCI holds the tie-breaker advantage over UOP (head-to-head) and Cal State Fullerton (conference goal differential, two better than the Titans to date).
