Board of trustees looking for president

The Fountain Valley School District board of trustees will start the process of finding a replacement for Patricia Harney at a special meeting Oct. 15.

Harney, a member of the board since 2002, died last month at the age of 72. The board has the options of holding a special election or interviewing applicants to fill Harney’s spot on the board, and has until Nov. 24 to make its decision, Supt. Marc Ecker said.

Ecker said he expects the board to appoint a member rather than go through a costly election, since Harney’s term would have ended in November of next year.
