Official to discuss human trafficking

An Obama administration official will headline a town hall-style discussion about human trafficking Friday at Costa Mesa’s Vanguard University.

The university’s Center for Women’s Studies will the meeting on human trafficking, scheduled from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Newport Mesa Church on campus, 2599 Newport Blvd.

The meeting, open to the public, is designed to give the Orange County community a way to express their concerns about human trafficking to Ambassador Luis Cdebaca, who will lead the discussions.

Appointed by President Barack Obama, Cdebaca is the director of the State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons.

Also on hand will be Rep. Loretta Sanchez and the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force.
