Man rolls car, suffers minor injuries

A 20-year-old man escaped with minor injuries after rolling his car in a Monday morning crash in Newport Beach, which police said was likely from drunk driving.

Police arrested Howard Lee on suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his car off East Coast Highway and Bayside Drive about 3 a.m., said Newport Beach Sgt. Scott McKnight.

Lee was trapped in the car, but firefighters rescued him after cutting open his SUV with the Jaws of Life, said Newport Beach Fire Department Battalion Chief Ron Gamble.

No other cars were involved in the crash, McKnight said.

Traffic investigators are still looking into what caused the crash.
