Business task force member to speak

“Laguna Open to Business” will be the subject of the upcoming Laguna Beach Business Club meeting Thursday morning at the Hotel Laguna.

Gregg Abel, principal of Gregg Abel design and a member of the Planning Commission who is serving on the Business Assistance Task Force, will discuss recent moves by the City Council to streamline the permit process for incoming businesses.

“Laguna Open to Business” will be a series of three meetings, with the intent to offer a variety of information to those interested in establishing a business in Laguna Beach.

The presentation begins at 7:30 a.m. at Hotel Laguna, Catalina Room.

The public is invited to attend.

Admission is $25 and includes a buffet breakfast.

Tae Kwon Do academy opens

Cho’s Academy, a martial arts and yoga studio, will hold a grand opening from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at 1966 S. Cost Hwy., in the back parking lot. Free classes will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Cho’s teaches traditional Tae Kwon Do, yoga, and offers classes specializing in rehabilitation and pain management.

The grand opening features live music, a bounce house for kids, food, a silent auction benefiting SchoolPower and Seeds Arts and Education, and a raffle. Authentic Korean barbecue and other dishes will be served.

‘Green’ Fitness Studio opens

Code Green Fitness will hold a grand opening and ribbon cutting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to celebrate becoming the first Certified Green Fitness Studio in Orange County, according to founder and President Ryan Kollock.

Code Green Fitness LLC provides health and fitness strategies for people who are seeking to becoming healthy and fit. The studio is at 1100 S. Coast Hwy. Suite 217.

“My goal is to help people become completely healthy, not just fit or in shape. Health is a lifestyle, and I want my studio to be environmentally healthy as well,” Kollock said.

Kollock hired a Certified Green Consultant, Roxanne Dean of E.C.O. (Environmentally Concerned Organizations), to help him with the green certification process.

E.C.O. networks with other businesses that provide certified green services and directs their clients toward these companies so that they keep the supply chain “green.”
