CdM girls rule over CIF section

The girls at Corona del Mar High are royalty again in the CIF Southern Section.

CdM received the top honor in the 18th annual Commissioner’s Cup after four runner-up finishes and one title during the 2008-09 school year. This marks the fifth time in six years the Sea Kings have claimed the cup, the most out of any school in the section.

The Sea Kings won a Division III cross country championship, placed second in Division I tennis, Division I water polo, Division II-AA volleyball, and tied for second in Division III track and field.

CdM scored 16.5 points, beating Saugus, which finished with 13. The Sea Kings earned five points for a title, three for each second place and 2.5 for a second-place tie.

Chadwick finished third, followed by Dana Hills, Oxnard Rio Mesa, La Canada, Laguna Beach, Palm Desert, Thousand Oaks La Reina and North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake.
