We celebrate the life of the late, great Earlene Starr Vineyard who died at the age of 89 on August 4th, 2009.
Earlene was born in Carlinville, Ill on May 28th, 1920 to Lydia and Earl Starr. She had a younger brother, Alan Starr of Honolulu, Hawaii who predeceased her. Both were graduated from Northwestern University where Earlene was a member of the Alpha Chi sorority. She later received her masters in education from Chapman University. Earlene married Howard Vineyard of Amarillo, Texas in 1955 and were married until his death in 1971. They moved to Lido Island in Newport Beach in 1965. Earlene lived on Lido for the next 35 years, leaving the island in 2004.
Earlene was an accomplished painter, seasoned traveller, amateur fine furniture restorer, member of the alter guild of St. James Episcopal church, pre-school teacher, and one-in-a-million mother and “mondamaâ€.
She is survived by her two daughters, Victoria Anne Hall Perez of Manhattan Beach,CA, her husband Tony, and Vanessa Nell Rogan of Sands Point,NY and her husband Brian.
She is also survived by five grandchildren: Griffith and Harry Rogan, and Alexandria, Olivia and Carolina Perez.
A memorial service will be held August 21st, 11am at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal church in Corona del Mar.
