Students win awards for academics, service

Golden West College students Mais Jarjour and David Salai received top honors at the 83rd Annual Alpha Gamma Sigma Convention on April 25 in Ontario.

Jarjour received the Robert Mantovani Award of $1,100 for academic excellence and exceptional service, and Salai received the Kathleen D. Loly Award of $800 for academic excellence and outstanding service.

Alpha Gamma Sigma is the academic honor society and service organization to the California Community Colleges.

At the award ceremony Saturday, 43 student members of Alpha Gamma Sigma were awarded scholarships totaling $36,100.
