Photographer’s shots set for library art exhibit

If you’ve walked through Newport Beach’s Central Library any time in the last week or so, you’ve probably noticed it seems a bit more serene than normal, almost like walking through a garden.
On Monday, the person who made that happen, local photographer Janel Pahl, will host a reception at the library to discuss the inspiration behind her floral shots, which are featured in the library in May and June.
Pahl’s reception will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Friends Room at the Newport Beach Central Library, 1000 Avocado Ave.
Pahl’s artwork exhibit, “Out of her Garden,” brings the artist’s earliest memories with her mother to a public audience. Pahl, a photographer and national judge for the Professional Photographers of America, said her first memories with her mom were filled with colors and fragrances. She flocked to portraits of flowers as soon as she picked up a camera as a teen.
