IRVINE — It was Namba Time at University High in boys’ swimming.

Corona del Mar freshman Jared Namba won two events and contributed to two victorious relays in the Sea Kings’ 113-57 Pacific Coast League victory Wednesday.

Namba won the 100-yard butterfly in 53.53 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 55.22. He was also in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle winning relays.

Other winners for CdM included: Garrett Larson (200 individual medley in 2:05.09), Brian Schiefer (50 free in 23.20), John Kim (100 free in 48.78) and Michael Liao (100 breaststroke in 59.91).

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Corona del Mar 22, Laguna Hills 3

CORONA DEL MAR — Junior attacker Ryan Mix recorded four goals and two assists for CdM, ranked No. 1 by LaxPower.com in the CIF Southern Section, in a Pacific Coast League game Wednesday.

Dave Kidushim contributed three goals and two assists. Michael Ortlieb had four assists and one goal.

CdM (10-0, 6-0 in league) plays Wheat Ridge of Colorado Friday at Peninsula Park at 3:30 p.m.

 

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Laguna Hills 10

LAGUNA HILLS — Junior Hillary Bush scored with 22 seconds left in the six-minute overtime period to lead the Sea Kings to the Pacific Coast League win Wednesday.

Senior Amy Youngman scored three goals, while Bush, freshman Ally Brahs and senior Jen Francis scored two goals each. Junior defender Jessica Smith also stood out for CdM (7-3, 4-1 in league).

DANA POINT — Steve Choi shot eight-over-par 43 to earn medalist honors for the Lightning in the Academy League match Wednesday at Monarch Beach Golf Links.

Jared Hoffman finished at 44 for Sage Hill (8-2, 4-0 in league).

 

BOYS’ TENNIS

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Chris Damion and sophomore Shane Korber swept in No. 1 and No. 3 singles play for the Sea Kings in a nonleague match Wednesday.

In No. 2 doubles, Peirce Stemler and Karl Fletcher swept as well for CdM (8-3), which is ranked No. 9 in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll.

NEWPORT COAST — Senior outside hitter Bayle Smith recorded 25 kills, but the Lightning, ranked No. 3 in the CIF Southern Section Division V coaches’ poll, lost to No. 7 Brethren Christian, 25-22, 15-25, 15-25, 25-23, 15-8, in the Academy League match Wednesday night.

Harlan Webster had 17 kills for Sage Hill (7-10, 1-1 in league).

Libero Kenji Gottner finished with 23 digs.

The Lightning play at Whitney Friday at 5 p.m.

 

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

IRVINE — Sarah Furgatch won two events for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League meet Wednesday.

She won the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.35) and 500 free (5:12.51).

Kelsey Larson won the 100 breaststroke (1:09.33) for Corona del Mar.
