MIAMI, Fla — Taylor Dent, a former Corona del Mar High standout, will play in the third round against Tony Robredo today at the Sony Ericsson Open.
Dent, who is making a comeback since dealing with a back injury that kept him out for most of the past three years, upset No. 19 seed Nicolas Almagro, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7) Friday. Dent, who was ranked as high No. 21 and is now 467, qualified as a wild card.
Alexa Glatch, a Newport Beach resident who is ranked 124, is also a wild card in Miami. She lost to No. 1-ranked Serena Williams, 6-2, 6-3, in the second round Saturday.
Glatch, 19, who defeated Timea Bacsinszky in the first round, broke Williams’ serve twice. But the 10-time Grand Slam champion broke Glatch’s serve six times.
