Ocean View Little League

Minor A division

Express 8, Bees 5: The Opening Day game of the Ocean View Little League Minor A division was an exciting game between the Express and the Bees. It was a crowd pleaser that had all the parents and fans on their feet for most of the game. At the end, the Express came out on top and scored their first victory of the year. Several of the Express boys had an outstanding day at the plate. Those kids included: Dylan Carter (two for three), Cameron Prohasca (one for two with a double and a run batted in) and Ryan St. Pierre (two for two). Dylan Chennault went one for two with two RBIs, and Noah Driscoll who went 2 for 3 and executed a key last inning double play to help shut down the Bees.

Minor B division

Hooks 8, Thunder 7: Jacob Hathcock threw well for three innings, keeping the Hooks in the lead. Sean Moore added to the Hooks scoreboard with two base hits to left field. Jack Pelc and Sean Staley kept it tight with super putouts at first. The Thunder made loud noise in the last inning, but the Hooks ended strong with Ben Quezada’s base hit scoring the winning run.

14U West Huntington Beach Girls’ Softball

HB Black Flag 5, Buena Park 5: The HB Black Flag hosted Buena Park Saturday in a tough game that demonstrated both teams’ excellent defense. Tap Outs ace pitcher started the game, striking out two out of three batters. Black Flag shut Buena Park down with a stellar double play by second baseman Kelby Roebuck to get the force at first. Following a number of Black Flag errors, Buena Park led, 3-0.

Things got pumping in the fourth inning when the Tap Outs brought in a new pitcher and following three walks, “Mad†Mary McGregor hit a grand slam to give Black Flag a 4-3 lead. The sixth inning ended the game, but not before an exciting Tap Out run. Lexi brown hit a hard triple to score Ariel Hernandez, bringing the score to 5-4.

Following a solid Tap Out grounder to center, Black Flag was able to get the ball in to Justice Walker, who hit the catcher, giving the Tap Outs their last out.

Black Flag was able to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning after Christine Verduzco’s hit scored Katie Goddard.
