Edison athletes Brantley, Andrew to be honored
Edison High senior Bryce Brantley, along with Chargers football teammate Wil Andrew, will be honored by the College Hall of Fame/O.C. Chapter in a banquet Monday night at the Anaheim Convention Center.
The 39th annual scholarship and athlete awards banquet of the National Football Foundation will start at 6 p.m. with a reception anddinner, and awards will follow at 7 p.m. It is considered to be the Orange County equivalent of the Heisman awards ceremony.
Brantley, who played offensive and defensive line during his four years at Edsion at Edison, and Andrew were co-captains of the team. In December, Brantley received the Matt Hombs Scholarship Award, which is the highest honor a football player can be given at Edison High.
Hombs was an All-CIF football player at Edison who died in car accident while on a recruiting trip to Boise State in 1983.
Brantley is considering offers from Azusa Pacific University, Humboldt State, the University of Redlands and local junior colleges.
