Police investigating teen’s death in motorcycle crash

A Huntington Beach motorcyclist recently died after he collided with an SUV on Golden West Street, police said.

Police were called at 5:17 p.m. Tuesday, after Ian Lopez, 18, struck a Toyota 4Runner that was exiting a neighborhood at Tucana Lane. Lopez, who was riding a 2008 Honda motorcycle, collided with the SUV when it began crossing the southbound lanes of Golden West after making a left turn, police said.

The driver of the SUV, Frederick Markle, 49, of Huntington Beach, was not injured in the accident, police said. No citations have been issued as police continue to investigate.

Lopez died later Tuesday at Huntington Beach Hospital.
