One injured in two-car collision on the 405

One car was left on its side and one person was hospitalized Thursday morning after a rush-hour collision on the northbound 55 Freeway.

A witness said just after 8 a.m. two vehicles, one of them a white SUV, collided on the northbound 55 Freeway at Paularino Avenue in Costa Mesa, flipping the SUV onto its side. California Highway Patrol officials were not immediately available to describe the incident, but paramedics said one person was sent to a Fountain Valley hospital with minor injuries. Authorities said no one else appeared injured in the crash.

The crash blocked the left three lanes on the freeway just before the 405 south interchange. CHP issued a SigAlert while crews cleaned up the wreckage.
