Seasons come to an end for Laguna soccer teams

The 2008-09 season came to an end Wednesday for the Laguna Beach High boys’ soccer team after the Breakers dropped a 2-0 decision to visiting Burroughs of Burbank in a CIF Southern Section Division IV second-round match at Guyer Field.
Laguna, the No. 3 team from the Orange Coast League, had earned a second-round date with Burroughs after scoring a 2-1 overtime win at Carpenteria last Friday.

Laguna had its season come to an end Feb. 18 in Corona, where top-ranked Centennial scored a 2-0 first-round victory over the Breakers in Division III action.
Laguna, the Orange Coast League’s third-place representative, began the postseason on Feb. 17 by defeating visiting Artesia in overtime, 2-1, in wild-card play.
The Breakers were playing in the postseason for the first time since 2000 and only the fifth time in the 27-year history of the program.
