Sage Hill 51, Whitney 41

CERRITOS — Tierney Danner scored 15 points and grabbed 20 rebounds to help the Lightning earn a share of the Academy League title Thursday night.

Morgan Hembarsky added 13 points. Stephanie Garrison had 10 points and 14 rebounds for Sage (16-8, 7-3 in league) which shared the title with St. Margaret’s and Whitney. The Lightning will be the league’s No. 1 representative for the CIF Southern Section playoffs after winning the coin flip.

Lindsay Anderson finished with 10 points and four assists and Morton had seven rebounds for Newport (8-18, 1-9 in league), which was without injured players Katey Thompson and Coleen Meade.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Chris Anderson and Jeff Allee scored eight points each for the Sailors in their Sunset League game Thursday.
