Forecasts: More rain Friday

Weekend showers are over, but rainy weather could return to the area as early as Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

“[Today] we should just have some clouds sticking around for decoration,” according to forecaster Stan Wasowski.

There is a slight chance of rain Wednesday and a greater possibility of showers Friday and Saturday, Wasowski said.

Over the weekend, the central coast of Orange County received 1.4 inches of rain as measured at John Wayne Airport. Fullerton’s measuring station, a few miles inland, reported more than 2 inches.

The rain came with unseasonably cold temperatures and Monday morning winds, but the National Weather Service says the storm that caused them has passed.

In the coming days, swimmers and surfers should avoid going in the ocean because of increased bacteria levels caused by the rain, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency.

Beaches near storm drains, creeks and other runoff areas are particularly dangerous.

The elevated levels of bacteria could continue for three days or more and have been known to cause infections in the ears, eyes and sinuses.
