Lightning’s Smrecek set to continue at CMS

Sage Hill School senior Jaclyn Smrecek, a four-year standout on the Lightning girls’ tennis team, will continue her career at Claremont Mudd Scripps.

Smrecek twice was named MVP at Sage, where she helped lead Coach A.G. Longoria’s squad to three Academy League titles and three appearances in the CIF Southern Section Division title match. Sage Hill won the Division V crown in 2005 when Smrecek was a freshman.

She was a first-team all-league honoree all four seasons and was a league MVP in doubles in 2006.

Smrecek will join former Lightning standout Alle Hsu, her No. 1 doubles partner on the 2005 Sage Hill team, at Claremont Mudd Scripps, a member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Assn. that was ranked No. 17 in NCAA Division III last season.

“Without Jaclyn in our lineup, we would not have won three of the school’s five Academy League championships, taken the school’s first CIF championship and reached the CIF final three times.” Longoria said.
