COSTA MESA — Antonio Gonzalez scored a goal and added an assist to help the Eagles beat their rivals in Orange Coast League play Wednesday at Jim Scott Stadium.
Estancia tied with Costa Mesa, 1-1, on Jan 9, when Eagles Coach Gannon Burks sat five starters the first half for undisclosed disciplinary reasons. Burks said he told his team to play this game much differently. He also used a different lineup, starting all seniors and substituting solely seniors for the first 60 minutes because he knew how important the rivalry was important to them.
In the 19th minute, Antonio Gonzalez scored off a pass from Miguel Villafuerte. Five minutes later Jorge Olivas finished on an assist from Aran Antunez, and in the 56th minute, Tony Flores headed in a cross from Gonzalez to make it 3-0 for the Eagles (11-1-6, 3-0-2 in league), ranked No. 4 in CIF Southern Section Division IV.

CORONA DEL MAR — The Sea Kings’ Steven Gallian scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds to help hold off the Hawks in the Pacific Coast League game Wednesday.
CdM Coach Ryan Schacter called it one of his most satisfying wins because the Sea Kings overcame adversity, as Sean Donovan, the team’s leading scorer who had 13 points, played despite battling the flu. Gallian also injured his ankle during the game and point guard Austin Quon dealt with foul trouble.
Danny Cheek added 11 points, while Joey Jones had eight rebounds and Parker Stone provided energy on defense for CdM (12-11, 4-1), ranked No. 15 in CIF Southern Section Division III-A, which remained in first in the league.
Laguna Hills trailed, 51-48, with six seconds left and had two free throws when Hawks Coach Joe Brick was whistled for a technical foul. Laguna Hills made two free throws and so did the Sea Kings, who ran out the clock after winning possession.
