Guinea pigs found new homes on Saturday at a pet adoption drive at Centinela Feed store in Costa Mesa.
The event was sponsored by Orange County Cavy Haven, a nonprofit Costa Mesa-based animal rescue organization. Founded in 2003, Orange County Cavy Haven rescues guinea pigs from shelters across Orange County, Los Angeles and the Bay Area.
The guinea pigs are rehabilitated and cared for by volunteers until new, permanent homes are found for the animals.
The organization is taking orders for guinea pig supplies like feed pellets and hay to raise money.
Guinea pig owners can make orders on the group’s website, www.cavyhaven.org.
