Tresor raises funds for Baja medic vehicle

Tresor Properties held a beachside holiday concert recently to raise awareness and funds for a remote town in Mexico as part of the El Cardonal Emergency Medical Rescue Outreach Project. More than 300 attendees, most from Laguna Beach, helped raise nearly $14,000.

The money is being used to purchase an emergency medical vehicle for El Cardonal, a remote town in the East Cape region of Baja California Sur, where Tresor is developing luxury homes. El Cardonal lacks local medical facilities, and the emergency medical vehicle is the first of a series of medical provisions that Tresor hopes to help bring to the town, whose nearest hospital is nearly two hours away.

Mostly known for work in Laguna Beach, Tresor has expanded its business south of the border in the rapidly growing region between Cabo San Lucas and La Paz.

“We at Tresor Properties have had the privilege of spending a lot of time in El Cardonal, and we now know many of its residents,” said John Fischbeck, president and founding partner at Tresor. “These are wonderful people who need some very basic help. Bringing medical provisions is something we are proud to do as part of this holiday season.”

Among the attendees was El Cardonal’s mayor, Luis Lucero. The concert included performances by Travel By Sea and World Anthem. The most sought-after silent auction items were a seven-day stay, with meals, at one of Tresor’s luxury properties in El Cardonal; a seven-day stay at a historic Pearl Street property in Laguna Beach when it is renovated; a World Anthem private concert; Los Angeles Lakers tickets; Anaheim Ducks tickets; and passes to Disneyland’s private Club 33.

“We are proud to announce that we have achieved our goal of raising enough money for the emergency medical vehicle,” Fischbeck said. “We’ve purchased a good used vehicle and will get it to El Cardonal before Christmas.”

Tresor plans to continue its fundraising efforts for the El Cardonal Emergency Medical Rescue Outreach Project into 2009, with its next goal being to raise money for an emergency medical clinic, which the Tresor team will construct themselves. Miracles for Kids and local donors join together to fill and deliver holiday baskets to families needing financial assistance and cheer for the holidays through its Basket of Miracles program. Baskets with basic necessities and special items were filled for the children, who are suffering with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

The baskets “” with chicken, ground meat, eggs, fruits, vegetables, holiday décor, toys and games “” were assembled at Red Rock Security & Cabling in Irvine and then delivered to more than 160 families throughout Southern California. The delivery trucks were donated by Ryder and the gas paid for by General Petroleum Inc.
