CdM bounces back
SAN DIEGO — It didn’t take too long for the Corona del Mar High girls’ volleyball team to answer its loss in the CIF Southern Section Division II-AA final Saturday.
The Sea Kings opened the CIF Division II state tournament Tuesday with a 25-17, 24-26, 25-18, 27-25 victory at Scripps Ranch, advancing to the semifinals of the Southern Califonia Regional. CdM (22-8) will play host to La Reina of Thousand Oaks (17-2) Saturday at 7 p.m.
Sydney Brombal had 12 kills, 14 digs and four aces. Madie Smith contributed 48 assists and 18 digs, Catherine Sullivan had 16 digs and Jenny Martin had 14 digs and two solo blocks. Claire Ham and Amanda Nickel added nine kills each to help CdM beat the San Diego Section Division II champion.
