The Newport Beach Fire Department today will graduate a new round of volunteers who have been trained to help rescue workers when disasters strike.
The last class for the Community Emergency Response Team members will be at 9 a.m. at Newport Beach Fire Station No. 7, 20401 Acacia St.
All past and graduating team members are invited to the event, which will showcase what they have learned during their six-week class.
The class is a nationally recognized FEMA-training program that teaches participants disaster preparedness, how to perform CPR, terrorism awareness, light search and rescue and how to extinguish a small fire.
The next set of classes are scheduled to begin in February.
