A man accused of killing three people, including a Newport Beach couple in 2004 who were thrown off their yacht to drown, was found guilty Monday afternoon.
The verdict against Skylar Deleon came shortly after the case was handed to jurors. Deleon’s defense attorney, Gary Pohlson, acknowledged at the beginning of the murder trial that his client was guilty and that he would focus on convincing jurors to spare Deleon from the death penalty.
The case will now turn to the penalty phase as jurors decide whether Deleon should spend life in prison or be executed.
More details to come this evening.
