Residents can check out designs for new city hall

The five final design concepts for the next Newport Beach City Hall and park will be on display at six city buildings through Nov. 14. The display boards can be viewed at City Hall, Oasis Senior Center, Newport Coast Community Center, Newport Beach Central Library and the Mariners and Balboa Branch Libraries. Public comment cards are available and can be submitted at each location.

Plans were first presented during an all-day meeting of the City Hall Design Committee last month. The meeting was videotaped and edited into a two-hour program that can be viewed on Time Warner Channel 3 or Cox Channel 30, and via www.city.newport-beach.ca.us.

The design committee will hold additional public meetings this month to rank the five concept plans and ultimately forward one recommended plan to the City Council for discussion and approval.

The committee is expected to present its recommendations to the City Council in mid- to late November. For more information about the project, call (949) 644-3002 or visit the city’s website and select the City Hall Design & Master Plan button on the home page.
