Meet Costa Mesa school leaders, help foundation

The principals of Costa Mesa High School and its associated middle school will be at Karl Strauss Brewing Company in Costa Mesa on Thursday night to spend some time talking with anyone who’s interested.
For a $50 donation to the Costa Mesa High School Foundation, parents can come get to know the men responsible for running their kids’ schools. Fundraisers like this are important to the foundation, according to founding board member Bill Sneen, because the foundation has more flexibility on how it chooses to spend the funds.
“There are no strings attached to this money, so if we get grant requests we can spend a bigger proportion on athletics, music and other extracurricular activities,” Sneen said.
The foundation’s primary source of revenue is the interest generated from a $1-million grant from IKEA, but only a small portion of that money can be spent on anything but academics, according to the foundation’s bylaws.
With the donation, guests receive unlimited food and drink from the restaurant. The event will be from 6 to 10 p.m., and the brewery is in the Metro Pointe shopping center at 901 South Coast Drive. To make reservations call (714) 604-9310.
