YOUTH FOOTBALL:

The Huntington Beach Black Oilers continued their dominating run in the 2008 season Saturday by blasting the Bellflower Broncos, 32-0, in Jr. All-American Football Clinic Division play at Huntington Beach High.

Javier Sanchez and Sean Strom each scored twice on long touchdown runs as the Oilers (5-0) remained undefeated. The Huntington defense, which forced five turnovers en route to the shutout, was lead by Anthony Delatorre, Jackson McCleery, Cedric Dashiell and Bowen Blake.

Shane Martinez, Kostner Elroy, Nate Mathews, Mikey Soto and Eric Rymer led the line play for the Oilers.

The Oilers have now shut out four of their five opponents and outscored the opposition, 160-13.

Huntington will face Inglewood at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Huntington Beach High in a game pitting two undefeated teams against each other.

In another Clinic Division game Saturday, the Huntington White Oilers suffered a 39-0 loss to the Baldwin Hills Gold Bruins.

In other local scores, Bellflower beat Huntington, 14-6, in a Jr. Clinic Division game, Huntington beat Bellflower, 7-0, in a Jr. Pee Wee Division game and Tri City beat Huntington, 22-0, in a Pee Wee Division game.

POP WARNER

Huntington’s defense didn’t allow a drive into the red zone and held Fullerton to negative yardage as they shut down the Titans, 18-0, in Jr. Midget Division play.

Trevor Borkowski hammered down Titans while Steele Escobedo came up with an interception and fumble recovery.

Brett Adams intercepted a pass, Aaron Vargas recovered a fumble and Trevor Borkowski had several big hits on defense for the Green Chargers.

Adams Peter Russo and Jake Arledge rushed for touchdowns in the first half.

Undefeated Huntington, which already has secured a postseason playoff berth, takes on the La Habra White Lions at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Jr. Pee Wee Division

Yorba Linda 38, Huntington 13: Huntington fell into a 20-0 hole in the first half Saturday against the Panthers and couldn’t recover.

The Green Chargers cracked the scoreboard late in the first half. A fumble recovery by Hunter Simmons at the Yorba Linda nine set up a touchdown pass from Keith McCord to Ben Poploskie on the final play of the half.

McCord also hit Danny Cassaro with a four-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.

The Green Chargers travel to San Clemente on Saturday, where they will play their final regular-season game against the South Coast Tritons.

Mighty Mite Division

Tustin 42, Huntington 19: Chase Ault, Nick Warren and Shaun Colamonico led a strong offensive charge in the first half against the Cobras, but Huntington went on to suffer its first loss of the season.

Tustin, which remained undefeated, took a 22-12 halftime lead.

The Chargers cut the lead to 22-19 early in the second half, but turnovers helped the Cobras pull away.

Challenger Division

In a game that began with a low-altitude fly-by by an F-117 Stealth Fighter and continued with spirited play on the field, the Huntington Beach Green Chargers and Santa Margarita Mustangs played to a tie at Tesoro High.

Tyler Gordon scored a touchdown and also kicked a 25-yard field goal. Kevin Hernandez and Michael Carney both ran for scores, with Hernandez recording his second touchdown of the season.

Cameron Shanberg and Cole Sarver each had touchdown runs cover more than 30 yards, Justin Degeytere caught his second touchdown pass of the year and Paul Melikyan ran a kickoff back for a touchdown and Berk Bisak ran a sweep right for a 50 yard touchdown.

In other scores, South Coast defeated Huntington, 13-6, in Jr. Mighty Mite Division play.
