Doubles could be key for Estancia against Breakers

The Estancia High girls’ tennis team will know where it stands after playing against Laguna Beach in a key Orange Coast League match at the Breakers’ courts today at 3:15 p.m.

Going into the match, the Eagles are considered a league favorite, but Laguna Beach is the defending league champion and ranked No. 8 in CIF Southern Section Division I.

“I told my girls that this is it,” Estancia High Coach Rachel de los Santos said. “This match will be the difference for who is first and second in league.”

Estancia High senior Ellie Edles, bound for UC Davis, will help the Eagles (8-3, 2-0 in league) stay competitive in singles, de los Santos said. She thinks the match will most likely decided in doubles.
