SAN LUIS OBISPO — With all five players finishing in the top 10, the UC Irvine women’s golf team cruised to a 47-shot victory at the Coast BMW Intercollegiate at the Monarch Dunes Golf Course Tuesday.
As a team, UCI shot a 298 Tuesday to finish with a three-round total of 909 (306-305-298), 47 shots ahead of host Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (956).
It is the first tournament title of the year for the Anteaters and the 14th in program history. The 47-stroke advantage is the program’s best margin of victory, surpassing the 2006 team that won the 2006 Big West Championships by 43 strokes.
