Olympians appear at swim event in Corona del Mar

CORONA DEL MAR — Former Olympians Janet Evans, Bruce Furniss and Erich Fisher, along with more than 200 from the community are expected to participate in the Swim for Life ocean swim today at 10 a.m.

Jason Lezak who anchored the dramatic 4X100 freestyle relay victory for Team USA in the Beijing Olympics, is also expected to be on hand, though he will not compete.

The participants will swim a mile and a half to help raise money for water safety awareness. They will start at Corona del Mar’s main beach off Ocean Boulevard and Iris Avenue.
