Meet at Crystal Cove State Beach for paddle-out
- Share via
Friends and family of a lifelong Newport Beach resident are inviting all who knew him to come out at noon today to Crystal Cove State Beach for a paddle-out to spread his ashes.
Chris Kavanaugh, 40, who grew up in Newport Beach and lived across the street from Newport Harbor High School until he died last week, will have his ashes spread in the ocean off of Scotchman’s Cove in the southern area of Crystal Cove State Beach.
A close friend of Kavanaugh’s, Robert Hess, said Kavanaugh went to Our Lady Queen of Angels School as a child and graduated from Corona del Mar High School in 1987. He graduated from San Diego State and moved back to Newport.
Hess expects between 75 to 100 people. Anyone wishing to memorialize Kavanaugh can meet at the Crystal Cove State Beach’s Reef Point entrance at noon.
