Man enters plea agreement for alleged threats against official

Prosecutors are working on a plea agreement for a Huntington Beach man charged with threatening Orange County Supervisor John Moorlach.
Steven Van Arroyo, 50, is accused of e-mailing death threats to Moorlach in January and faces up to three years in prison if convicted. He was scheduled to appear in court Friday for a pretrial hearing.
Court records show that Arroyo was accused in 1999 of similar charges and was sentenced to three years’ probation for criminal threats. On Jan. 30, Arroyo pleaded not guilty to two felony charges of making criminal threats and threatening public officials.
If the case advances to a preliminary hearing, Moorlach may be required asked to testify against Arroyo.
