Three Huntington Beach athletes played key roles for Team Complete Athlete Volleyball Club of Orange County’s 18 3rd Degree BL team that won the gold medal in the 18-Open Division of the 29th annual USA Junior Olympics girls’ volleyball championships.
TCA 18 3rd Degree BL competed June 26 to 30 in the event hosted by USA Volleyball at the Dallas Convention Center in Texas.
Twenty-eight teams from across the nation competed in the 18-Open Division, the highest level of competition at the championships.
Lilla Frederick of Huntington Beach was awarded the Most Valuable Player trophy for the tournament and named to the exclusive All-American Tournament Team. Frederick played at Connelly High in Anaheim.
The other Huntington Beach players on the gold medal-winning team were MacKenzie Knox and Alyssa Valentine. Both played at Edison High.
