Newport Beach police have released a composite sketch of a man who gropes women after tricking them into letting him in their home.
The intruder, described as a heavyset white man in his 20s or 30s, about 240 pounds with a beard and wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans, has told women he has to dance for them as part of a college fraternity activity, police said.
After he dances, he grabs the women’s buttocks, according to police.
The composite sketch was created by descriptions women gave Newport Beach police in April.
On April 12, the man walked into an unlocked residence in the 700 block of Begonia Avenue and told two women in their early 20s he was a member of a UCI fraternity and had to dance for them, said Sgt. Evan Sailor.
Afterward, the women said he touched one of their hands and buttocks, Sailor said.
In a similar incident Sunday, a man walked into an unlocked home in the 1700 block of Marguerite Avenue at about 10 a.m. and told two women in their early 20s he had to dance for them as part of a fraternity scavenger hunt.
After dancing, he hugged one of the women and touched her buttocks, police said. Those women have not seen the police sketch, Sailor said.
Authorities are urging anyone who has had a similar incident or has information about the man to call Newport Beach police at (800) 550-NBPD.
