Six local athletes earned first-place finishes Sunday at the 2008 Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation Track and Field Championships at Warren High in Downey.
In girls’ competition, Faith Webb was a double-winner as she took the Division 01 50-meter dash (8.5 seconds) and the 100-meter dash (16.50). Emily Gray won the Division 01 long jump at 7 feet 1.
In boys’ action, Noah Franklin won the Division 99 softball throw (109-9), Taylor Damron claimed the Division 98 long jump (11-10), Elijah Herrera captured the Division 95 400-meter run (1 minute, 1 second) and Luke Fell took the Division 95 softball throw (237-3).

Ocean View Little League crowned three champions Sunday.
In the Majors Division, the Mets used the shutout pitching of Ben Drolet to edge the Dodgers, 1-0, to capture the title.
In a two-game weekend Minor A Division series between the Bats and River Cats, Sunday’s championship game saw the Bats emerge with the title following a 15-8 victory.
The Bats were led by the all-around play of Michael Green, Logan Pouelsen and Hagen Danner.
Nick Pratto and Sasha Kaboli homered for the River Cats.
In the Minor B Division, the Diamond Jaxx won the title and capped a 20-0 league season by defeating the Hooks, 16-3.
The Diamond Jaxx are: Grant Rockefeller, Kelan Long, Zeke Ziegler, Jack Fults, Ben McConnell, Dolan Baltgalvis, Matt Gomez, Devon Germain, James Williams, Jake Volo, Miles Hubbard and coaches Erich Ziegler, John Volo and Kevin Long.
The Mets and Dodgers (Majors Division), Bats and River Cats (Minor A Division) and Diamond Jaxx and Hooks (Minor B Division) will represent Ocean View at the District 62 Tournament of Champions, which begins Saturday.
? ? Boys’ Basketball
The Huntington Beach Seahawks, a sixth-grade boys’ National Junior Basketball All-Net team, captured first place at the Whittier Summer Blast Tournament.
The two-day weekend tournament concluded Sunday.
En route to reaching the title game, the Seahawks defeated teams from Manhattan Beach, Fullerton and Placentia. In the division final, led by the scoring of Tyler Burch, Coach John Hewin’s squad scored a 67-60 victory over the La Mirada Bruins.
The Seahawks are: Brendan Nakaji, Stuart Morton, Daniel Neff, Reese Bearden, Louis Juego, Gabriel Copper, Jacob Meyer, Tyler Burch, J.B. Hewin and coaches John Hewin and Francis Juego.
Roller hockey
The Young Americans outscored the Thrashers, 2-1, in overtime Monday to claim an 8-7 victory in a Wales Division match at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.
Sam Prizler led the Young Americans in scoring with two goals and also had a pair of assists. Logan Bechtold scored once with an assist and William Rhoads, Ethan Higbee, Nicholas Ashworth and Nick Somes also scored.
Nathan May had an assist and Jessica Quinones recorded 11 saves.
Zac Witt of the Thrashers posted four goals to lead all scorers. Jake Bearshear also scored and Kyler Scott had two assists.
Savannah Patton registered 11 saves.
Norris Division
Hornets 7, Terminators 5: Scott Begg scored the final four goals for the Hornets as they held off the Terminators.
Grant Kang scored twice and Alex Le Bas had one goal to complete the scoring for the Hornets. Ryan Northup led the team in assists with three, Le Bas had two assists and Begg and Stephen Kim each had one assist. Weston Bechtold had 16 saves. Christian Pompoco and Kyle Barrett alternated scoring for the Terminators, with Pompoco scoring three times. Pompoco also had an assist and Levi Pompoco finished with 18 saves.
