JAMES LOUIS ORSTAD
James Louis- age 86, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on June 7, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane just a few months earlier, “Together again for eternity”. Jim was raised in LA and enlisted inThe US Navy becoming an aviation cadet. He went on to serve in WWII as a 2nd Lt. in the Army Air Corps as a navigator of a B-25 Bomber. Based in Chikyang with the Flying Tigers, he flew many night missions being assigned to a special Chinese-American squadron flying for Chenault & under General Chiang-Kai-Cheks colors. He received many medals for his bravery and intelligence including the Presidential Citation, The Distinguished Flying Cross, The China War Memorial and The Purple Heart. In 1955 he settled in Newport Beach, with his family, running his business, Orange County Builders Appliance Supply. Retiring in 1980, his days were filled with fishing and traveling to his house in Mexico. He was devoted to his four grandchildren, his real joy. Jim is survived by daughters, Christy Schmitz & Jay Maurer, son-in-law, Craig Maurer and grandchildren Christian, Garrett, Brynn and P.J. He is sadly being missed for his wisdom, helpful nature and his endless supply of jokes. Please contact Pacific View Mortuary 949-644-2700 for further information.
