Letts nets ice crown

KITCHENER, Ontario, Canada — Corona del Mar High graduate Ryan Letts, a wing on the fourth line for the Spokane Rangers of the Western Hockey League, helped his team defeat the Kitchener Rangers, 4-1, Sunday to claim the Memorial Cup, junior hockey’s version of the Stanley Cup.

Letts did not amass any statistics in the game, played at Kitchener Memorial Stadium.

The Chiefs, champions of the Western Hockey League, broke a 1-1 tie with two second-period goals and added a goal in the third period to claim the Cup.

Kitchener won the Ontario Hockey League on its way to Sunday’s title clash.
