BLUE JAYS WIN

The Costa Mesa Blue Jays completed a dominating season with a 9-5 victory over Calvary Chapel Blue for the Newport-Mesa Pony baseball championship Wednesday at TeWinkle Park.

The Blue Jays scored five in the fifth and four in the sixth, rallying from a 2-0 deficit, to finish the season at 20-3-1. The Blue Jays, who batted .345 as a team and had a 3.22 ERA, also won the regular-season Newport-Mesa title and went 12-0-1 in their final 13 games. The only blemish in that span was a 4-4 tie with Calvary Chapel Blue and the Eagles gave the Blue Jays another battle Wednesday.
