Fountain Valley to begin re-paving streets

Now that the Orange County Sanitation District has completed upgrades to sewage and water systems along Ellis Avenue, Fountain Valley can begin a project to re-pave streets in the area.

The $4.1 million project has been slated for a few years, but it couldn’t get off the ground until water upgrades had been made, said Fountain Valley Public Works Director Mark Lewis.

“We deferred our paving so we didn’t pave and have to dig it right back up,†Lewis said.

Re-paving will begin at the end of May and is expected to take five months.

Ellis Avenue will be resurfaced from Bushard Street to the 405 Freeway, Brookhurst Street will get a face-lift between Garfield and Talbert avenues, and Talbert Avenue between Bushard and Brookhurst streets will be re-paved.

Lewis said residents should use alternate routes around affected areas to avoid traffic.
