Corona del Mar
LONG BEACH — Corona del Mar High senior Yutaro Yamashita, sophomore Michael Liao and freshman John Kim all qualified for the championship finals in their races Wednesday night at Belmont Plaza.
Yamashita qualified fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 40.62 seconds, and sixth in the 100 butterfly in 50.59 seconds. Kim qualified fourth in the 200 individual medley in 1:56.34, and seventh in the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.68.
Liao qualified fourth in the 100 breast in 59.73. Yamashita, Kim, Liao and Brian Schiefer qualified eighth in the 200 medley relay, in 1:39.29.
On the girls’ side, Corona del Mar junior Sarah Furgatch qualified sixth for the 200 freestyle championship final in 1:54.99. Junior Kelsey Larson made two consolation finals, qualifying 10th in the 200 IM in 2:10.30, and 12th in the breaststroke in 1:08.97.
Furgatch, Larson, Allison Peotter and Heather Van Hiel qualified 16th in the 200 free relay, in 1:43.14.
The CIF Division I finals are Friday at 6 p.m. at Belmont Plaza.
 
Newport Harbor
LONG BEACH — The Newport Harbor High boys’ 200-yard freestyle relay team qualified fourth for the championship final Wednesday night at Belmont Plaza.
Junior David Linden, sophomore Blake Kelly, and seniors Myles Christian and Clinton Jorth finished the race in 1 minute, 27.35 seconds.
Christian qualified ninth in the 100 fly in 52.81 seconds, and Jorth qualified for the consolation finals in both the 100 and 200 free. He was 12th in the 100 free in 48.27, and 16th in the 200 free in 1:45.64.
Senior Hunter Owen qualified 15th in the 100 breaststroke, in 1:02.46.
On the girls’ side, senior Erin Reid was the only individual qualifier for championship or consolation finals. Reid qualified 16th in the 500 free, in 5:18.12.
The team of Reid, senior Mimi Bury and sophomores Katie Jackson and Kate Klippert also qualified 16th in the 400 free relay, in 3:44.64.

Division I finals
MISSION VIEJO — Corona del Mar High’s Adam Seagondollar won the championship Tuesday at Mission Viejo Aquatics Center.
Seagondollar scored 530.90 points to win the championship.
Mission Viejo’s Kyle Kolar finished wecond with 526.35 points and San Clemente’s Taylor Nickel was third with 494.75 points.
Seagondollar advances to the CIF Masters Meet Tuesday at Belmont Plaza.
