James Leslie Kelly
James Leslie Kelly (June 8, 1932 - April 26, 2008) passed away peacefully at home with family at his side. Jim was born in Bellingham, WA where he spent his early childhood until his parents moved to Seattle and later to Burbank, CA. While obtaining his undergraduate and ROTC education at UCLA, Jim married Bunny Riley and then served in the US Air Force. He returned to UCLA for Law School and practiced real estate and securities law for many years in Orange County. Jim’s legacy is the nurturing of his fifty-four year marriage, his four children, and his ten grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered for his sweet disposition and his love of airplanes, books, boating, history, singing, reciting humorous limericks, and spectating at the grandchildren’s events. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Mary Kelly, and his in-laws, Jack and Marge Riley. He is survived by his wife (Doris) Bunny Kelly, his #1 son Kevin Kelly (wife Marlane, children Chase & Preston), his #2 son Gregg Kelly (wife Devon, children Nick & Katie), his daughter Lynne Hayes (husband Dan, children Riley, Dustin, & Trent) and his #3 son Brad Kelly (wife Sue, children Kyle, Blake & Holly). The family has planned a private burial at sea. Memorial contributions can be made in Jim’s honor to Hoag Hospital Foundation, designated to Hoag Heart Institute, P.O. Box 6100, Newport Beach, CA 92658-6100
