Delays expected at Newport interchange

Road work will cause traffic delays on Newport Boulevard between Finley Avenue and the Arches bridge, and a part of the Coast Highway and Newport Boulevard interchange.

The California Department of Transportation repaving project is expected to be completed by Memorial Day weekend.

All American Asphalt, the contractor performing the work, will grind and pave the roadway this week.

This phase of the project will necessitate lane closures along Newport Boulevard and ramp closures at the interchange.

Drivers should anticipate significant traffic delays and detours, according to city officials. Throughout the duration of the project, there will be periodic lane closures for utility adjustments, traffic signal loop installation and striping.
