JIM SCOTT STADIUM
Congratulations to Jim Scott, Sr. on the completion and dedication of the new state-of-the-art football stadium at Estancia High School.
I was on the Newport Mesa School Board in the early 1990s when Jim and his son, Jim Jr., presented their goal of building a football stadium at Estancia and a competitive swimming pool at Costa Mesa High.
Costa Mesa United was formed by community leaders to support the effort. David Brooks, Newport-Mesa School Board member was a key leader in organizing.
Today, Brooks and his fellow board members Gordon Bowley (now President), John Ursini, Rick Kapko, Cathi Hartwell, Katrina Anne Foley, Jim Huffman, Bruce Garlich, Kurt Galitzki and Daily Pilot publisher Tom Johnson can take pride in seeing that the time, talent and treasure they gave to the projects are coming to fruition.
Congratulations to one and all!
WORTH REPEATING
Thought for the Day as provided by Greg Kelley of the Newport Mesa Irvine Interfaith Council:
“It would appear that most individuals can quite easily come up with a myriad of reasons why something wouldn’t work. Why most things imagined and dreamed about are never brought to fruition is because so few ask the question — Why wouldn’t it work?”
