Car wash to support student with spinal injury

Newport Harbor High School players, parents and coaches as well as community members are mobilizing to provide support for a lacrosse player who suffered a serious injury recently.
Cameron Piorek, a sophomore on the junior varsity lacrosse team for Aliso Niguel, injured his neck and spinal cord during a lacrosse game April 22.
He underwent surgery Sunday to help repair the damaged areas.
Cameron doesn’t play for a Newport-Mesa team, but Newport Harbor has rallied to his cause. Parents and players will have a car wash from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m Saturday at the Firestone Tires parking, 475 E. 17th St., Costa Mesa, to raise money for Cameron and his family.
In conjunction with their efforts, Rudy’s Pub and Grill — a lacrosse league sponsor — will donate 10% of sales Sunday from those who are there for the lacrosse league as well as match that amount in a donation from the restaurant to Cameron and his family.
For more information on Rudy’s, visit www.rudyspubandgrill.com or call (949) 723-0293.
